Letter Published in The National UAE on 16 July 18 The UAE is well placed to support South Africa    I write in reference to your editorial Strong ties with a revitalised South Africa are mutually-beneficial (July 15): this piece made for an interesting read. The recently elected South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, travelled to the UAE as part of his effort to improve his country’s damaged economy through investment from the Gulf and beyond. He was welcomed by Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. I am sure the two leaders discussed future courses of action to develop the bilateral relationship between their two nations. At this pivotal juncture, South Africa needs investment and support to recapture its former economic performance. The UAE is an excellent place to garner such support.K Ragavan, Denver
