Letter Published in The National UAE on 30 Dec22 India’s not willing to risk being unprepared this time around With regard to Taniya Dutta's article India's hospitals conduct Covid drills amid rise in cases (December 27): The Indian government’s preparedness to face the crisis is sensible. The country suffered greatly last April and May when there was a real fight for oxygen cylinders in the country's capital. Those scars will take a long time to heal. The Indian health authorities do not want a repeat of that and are presumably being extra cautious to face all possibilities in large numbers. With India's population of nearly 1.4 billion and considering the mutating nature of virus, realities on the ground tend to shift quickly. Along with the government’s implementation of new rules, such as random testing for international arrivals, it is important that people follow the instructions. Perhaps in the end these will all just have been preventative measures and everything will go smoothly. Panic doesn't help. K Ragavan, Bengaluru, India

Tribute to Actor , Producer Akshay Kumar - Today i am going to pen about another versatile film personality from the Bollywood film industry. He is none other than actor , producer AkshayKumar. In his three decades of film career he has acted in all roles and established himself as a versatile actor.Many of his films was box office hits and he has acted with all top class actors ,actresses,and is associated with wonderful directors.He has many films to his credit and I have seen few remarkable movies of this doyen.Those films are Saugandh,Khiladi,Deedar,Sainik,Elaan,Mohra,Zaalim,Sapoot,Mr and Mrs Khiladi,Aflatoon,Aarzoo,HeraPheri,Dhadkhan,Air lift,Aankhen,Aitraz,Insan,Bewafa,Welcome,Singh is king,Khaki,House ful,OMG, Jolly L.L.B,Special 26 and many more films.His best performance I enjoyed was,Dhadkhan,Airlift,Mohra,Khaki , Special 26and OMG. His screen space with Paresh Rawal,Sunil Shetty and Director Priya Darshan were most welcomed by his fans.His movies are entertainment,fast,colurful and beautiful cinematography, example Aitraz, .He has won many awards and recently he was bestowed the best actor award for his role in Rustom.He is liked by one and all from the film fraternity. Tribute to Late Photographer T.Kasi Nath 745 > Today i am going to pen another interesting personality who has inspired thousands of fans through his wonderful work which is none other than the Late Photographer T.Kasinath.In his early days, inspired by his father's profession of Photography Kasinath took a liking for photography.Without much advancement in cameras he has taken up films and created a very big impact in those days which is not an exaggerated one.Started his career with a Kannada Daily as photographic reporter and made a good beginning.Later he served in the Ministry Of Information and Broadcasting and was liked by one and all.He was looking after the tourist publicity and development and developed tourism.Later he was promoted as Editor (Photographics.)He was also honured from Kodak Colur Laboratory in U.K. and spent a couple of months which is laudable.Also he visited Belgium Gevaert factory and also Agfa Colur factory in Germany that speaks about his Quality work.He was bestowed the famous Padma Shree award and won many Honurs that are worth to be mentioned here.One of the rare talented Photographer gave many remarkable pictures.I have been repeatedly telling in this column , in any walks of line if a person does a good job he/she should be recoganized is my conviction.Even though he has struggled in his earlier days Kasinath become an international legend in Photography made Karnataka more proud.Today i am very happy to tribute this Great Legend in Photography who has not only inspired but also delivered to Thousands of People ,particularly in the Tourism area. Tribute to Cinematographer Late N.Satyen (744) > Today i remembered another interesting film personality from Bollywood Film Industry who is none other than Late N.Satyen.In his four decades of film career he has worked with all top class actors of Yester years who are worth to be mentioned here.One of the good Cinematographers of those wonderful Bollywood days created a big impact on his frame work both in indoor as well outdoor.I have seen couple of films of this Doyen.Those films are,Dalaal,Sharaabi, Laawaris,Zulmi,Hera Pheri,zanjeer,Bluff Master, and Haseena Maan Jayegi.One or two films i have forgotten.He hails from famous Mysore and earned a good name in the film fraternity.Even though he is not with us his wonderful work in front of us.Today i tribute this talented Cinematographer. Tribute to Dr.A.A.Asirvatham F.R.C.S Today I remembered an incident which I witnessed on my own about two hours before the surgery of my mother forty seven years back in Madurai south india.The surgery was Thyroidectomy and it was performed by the famous Surgeon,Professor of Madurai Erskine hospital, Dr A.A.Asirvatham F.R.C.S.Known for this Surgery Procedure very well and happened to my Contact Doctor When i was working for a reputed Pharmaceutical company based at Madurai.He examined my mother and suggested to go for this surgery as she had already had a big Thyroid gland .I agreed and he decided to operate in a Private nursing home at Madurai with another doctor friend who was an anaesthetist.With my curiosity i asked the doctor ,how long this surgery will take.He replied may be two hours or more and said that I can watch it if I want to. I was thrilled to hear his words and agreed to watch.I witnessed for nearly two hours and fifteen minutes done in the famous nursing home of late Stalwart doctor P.Vadamalayan If my memory is correct.I Admired his style in performing the surgery in his own cool ,calm way and thrilled to know that was his 934 th Thyroidectomy.Why i remembered this great legend for his helping nature to all irrespective of poor or rich and his dedication was superb.And still i remember his words,Ragavan physician will treat god heals .It was true and still his philosophy followed in his Asirvatham Super specialty hospital with dedicated doctors. I always remember this doctor who made my mother live for more than 38 years. Today I remembered this wonderful Legend.. K.Ragavan 5-12-22 See You Next week

To day i am going to Pen another interesting personality,from the Bollywood film industry is none other then Director Rohit shetty.Incidently he is the son of Late Action Master Late Shetty who was dominated in the film industry for decades.Shetty was the one fight master ,worked with many top class actors of Bolly wood .Even though Rohit Shetty has handful of films to his credit,but was very much popular with his film Golmaal.The Presentation of Gol maal returns and Golmaal 3 was superb.He is not only a Director but also a Good cinematographer.Started his earlier days With Kuku Kohli and Anees Bazmee ,he has proved himself as a Good director.He has also acted in Hindi and Kannada films.In India, Karnataka state has produced top class Business communities and Film Personalitiesis true.Rohit shetty hails from South karnataka Mangalore is important.His films gives good entertainment with music,comedy and good cinematography.He has worked with today's top class actors and a Close associate of Ajay Devgan.Ihaveseen Few films, those films are Gol maal returns Golmaal. 3 and Chennai express . In Chennai express all the actors have played their role very well especially ShahruKhan,DeepikaPadukone,Sathyaraj and Superb Cinematography of Dudley is worth to be mentioned here. Letter Published in The National UAE on 25 Nov 22, A horrific crime in India calls for stronger laws With regard to Taniya Dutta's article Indian chef Aftab Ameen Poonawala confesses to murdering and dismembering his girl friend (November 22): this murder has shaken the county. For the past fortnight, it has been sensational news in the capital with the media analysing angles of what led to such a horrific crime. The accused used to beat her often. She feared for her life, as she wrote in an earlier police complaint before he took her life. And while there is the domestic violence angle, the cause for this murder is yet to be known, even though the accused has admitted guilt and mentioned it happening in the "heat of the moment". What is also shocking is the number of gruesome crimes in recent months. Indian society needs to introspect and fix the problem before more such inhuman acts take place or become the norm. Poonawala should be punished severely. This case ought to serve as an eye opener for others even considering resorting to such barbarism. Human lives are precious and no one has got the right to kill. Criminals will be deterred if the country implements strong judicial measures. K Ragavan, Bengaluru, India

Today i am going to pen another talented Producer ,Director is none other then Late Manmohan Desai.He had 20,Films to his credit and most of the pictures are hits.Wonderful talented technicians he had .it can not Forget the cinematographer Peter Pereira for his excellent visuals in this doyen's films.Today's top class actors Amitabachan,Rishikapoor,Rajesh khanna,Dharmendra Shashikapoorand Randhirkapoor acted in his movies.He gives importance for Script and action oriented movies with capable writers like K.K.Shukla ,Prayagraj and Kader khan.Music also plays a vital role in his movies with famous Duos Kalyanji Anandji,and LaxmikantPyarelal.Ihave seen many of this Director's movies,those are Sachaa jhutha,Dharamveer, Roti,Amar Akber Anthony,Rampurkalakshman,Suhag , Aagale lagja and Bhai HotoAisa,.Late Pran acted in Dharam veer.Known for his Multistar casts and Gigantic sets today he is no more with us.Bolly wood has to remember this Mass Director Today .Iam happy to pay tribute this versatile Director. But does this bode well for the future of our species and the planet we live on? The Earth has finite resources that are being consumed at breakneck speed, and it is becoming less inhabitable every year. Today I remembered my participation in a newly started forum which made everyone laugh. In December 2008,two good friends asked me to participate in their newly-started elite forum.Attended the inaugural programme and was thrilled by the enthusiastic response of the crowd that came from all walks of life.The duo are none other than K.G.Guna and Suresh.The elite forum was just started ,the Emirates Humour club.Iwas Happy about the concept ,to make others laugh.From Paediatric to Gereatric one can participate and deliver Jokes,Mimicry and skits to make the audience laugh.Needless to Mention the VISA(Very InterestingSettai Appa) skit which covers the current event with a humorous presentation by Suresh and team(Settai xavier,Appasamy and Arputham).I have been watching this club's steady growth and today nearly 150,Members are on the roll,which is remarkable.Recently , a guest remarked that the programme was better than many TVshows.This speaks about the tremendous efforts put in by Suresh and Guna.The Players -From Paediatric,Sow.Varsiga,Rishi,Shalini,Sowmya ,Thannir malai,and Geriatrics,Panner,Pravin,Kamesh,Karthik,Lakshmi anantha sayanan,Subramanian and Suresh deserves a pat.The Man who draws thunderous applause wahid also deserves kudos.There are several others who performed their role hilariously as stress-busters.Though ihave left the Golden Land Dubai For my native place India,my memory takes me back there often.Wishing EHC to celebrate many more anniversaries. Letter Published in The National UAE on 11Nov 22O,rgan donation is a lifeline With regard to Shireena Al Nowais's article Double lung transplant recipient in Al Ain tells of joy at second lease of life (November 9): This was a very meaningful story. Amazing to read about the young man Justin Anthony doing so well. Such reports will surely go a long way to convince people to register for organ donation. The act of wanting to help others live has great power. Donor willingness captures the best of humanity. Others who may be ailing from diseases can get new hope if they get a donor. It is also a lifeline to families of the patient. That Justin is now healthy and cheerful is laudable, after all the medical stress in his life. Heartening to read about him thanking his doctors. The figures also speak of increasing willingness among the population to sign up. That 400 lives in the UAE and Saudi have been saved is wonderful. It shows the power of organ donation. Unfortunately a lot of people shy away from it but such examples can change thinking. Organ donation campaigns can spread awareness and help people overcome reluctance. Today I remembered another interesting personality from the SouthIndian Film Industry is none other than Late Director D.Yoganand..Started his career with Late Veteran Director L.V.Prasad in Samsaram film if i am right.Later he became an independent Director and directed more than Fifty to Sixty films of Telugu and Tamil is worth to be mention here.All the Yesteryear actors M.G.R,Sivaji Ganesan,N.T,.R.,SarojaDevi,Devika,GeminiGanesh ,S.S.R.PandariBai and many prominent actors acted in his moves.Good music,songs,and Cinematography will be visible in his films Decades back was laudable.I have seen few Tamil films of this Stalwart.Those films are,MaruMagal,Kaveri,MaduraiVeeran,BoologaRambai,AnbuEngay,ValarPirai,ParthibanKanavu (old),Parisu,Rani Yar Kulandai,Thaai,GruhaPravesam .and few i am unable to recollect.He is one of the few Directors made big films and created a big impact in those days can not be denied.Even though this Doyen departed still his good old films remembered and seen by Cine fans and especially his own.Today i am very happy to pay tribute to this Stalwart. Letter Published inThe National UAE on4 Nov 22 Deadly bridge collapse was avoidable With reference to Taniya Dutta's article India's deadly bridge collapse probably caused by rusty cables (November 2): It was very sad to read about the avoidable deaths caused by the bridge collapse in India's western Gujarat state. There are questions about laxity and improper maintenance of public infrastructure. It is reckless to have opened the bridge without the necessary safety checks. The 233-metre bridge from the time of the British regime killed more than 135 people. The nine people including ticket-booking clerks who have been arrested is a small comfort to shattered families. Complete accountability needs to be sought of how things could have come to such a head. The human stories, about those who lost their lives in the accident, including the 35 young children, are heartbreaking. It is suspicious also why renovation work was contracted to a clock manufacturer. How could the authorities have assumed rusty cables would not be a serious security hazard? Whatever be the compensation bestowed to victims' kin, lives won't come back. I pray for the departed souls and hope there is strict action taken so accidents such as these never happen again. Tribute to Actor,Choreographer and Director Lawrence Raghavendra. Today I remembered , another talented person from the SouthIndian film industry is none other than Actor,Choreographer and Director Lawrence Raghavendra. Lawrence has directed few films only ,in two languages Tamil and Telugu is worth to be mentioned here.i have seen only one film of this Director , Don in Telugu ,with Nagarjuna and Anushka..He has worked with top class actors in many films as Choreographer.Actors like Nagarjuna ,Prabhu deva and Kovai Sarala are important.His films portray entertainment with ,Music and good cinematography .He has acted few tamil ,and telugu films.In Don he acted very well,with Nagarjuna.He is one of the few choreographers respected in the Film industry.Apart from his professional talents,he is a wonderful Human being is to be remembered.His yeoman services for the Physically challenged orphan children without any publicity ,is highly appreciable. Letter Published in The National UAE on28 Oct 22 The road ahead for Rishi Sunak The developments in UK politics this week have been stunning, not just for Indians who have been celebrating all week. The new British Prime Minister's assurances to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in their first call are laudable. But Rishi Sunak has tough challenges in front of him domestically. He has to fix inflation, people's living standards, the education sector and make the streets safe. The state of the British economy is possibly his toughest task. He has to revive it and bring normality back to Britain, which is what will prove his mettle. This is not going to be easy. However, I believe he has it in him to deliver on this extensive mandate and make the British people happy in the coming weeks and months. And lastly, I would like to add that it is indeed a proud moment for 1.3 billion Indians that a person of Indian origin now occupies the prestigious office of 10 Downing Street. This should be recognised for the amazing feat it is. The success of countless Indians is already acknowledged in the global scenario, in all walks of life. Recently i saw the movie Kantara it was nicely taken and handled by Director Rishab Shetty.He played very well and South Canara Folk music was highly focussed along with the story.Kishore,Pramod Shetty,AchutKumar,SapthamiGowda,ManasiSudhir and all others acted very well.Good frame work by Aravind Kashyap and musicAjaneshLoganath also added attraction on the story line.Latest much talked movie Kantara. Tribute to Narasimhan Venkatesan.Popularly known as Ooran and Balaji. It was a shocking news on 5th morning from my wife that our beloved Balaji passed away. I could not believe this. Two months back I met him it was on 29th July at his house and cherished his hospitality along with his mother,wife and daughter.I know him for the past 49 years when I got married to his aunt. Very Smart boy, informative in all areas , particularly Bhagavath matters especially of his family God Kanakavalli Thayar and Veeraraghava perumal of Thiruvallur.Like his late dad he was more attached with this God, no one can deny from our family side.His hospitality and interacting with people was amazing. Forwarding Perumal pictures and functions was also laudable. From the past one year till Monday the 3rd of October, he was sending Thayar Kanakavalli and Perumal pictures. Made me happy and blessed when I open my WhatsApp message and good sign for me that day. Liked by one and all , family members and his friends. Great loss to us and he has gone to do Kainkaryam to his lord VeeraRaghava perumal and Kanakavalli Thayar.His smiling face will be cherished and remembered by all of us . Letter Published in The National UAE on 7oct 22 Better roads could prevent tragedies With regard to Taniya Dutta’s report At least 25 dead after bus falls into gorge in Indian Himalayas(October 4): The recent mishap in the Indian state of Uttarakhand was sad to read. The state of many of the country’s roads make this sort of tragedy more familiar than it should be. The terrain and the monsoon rains does not help keep the roads in good shape. It is a sad fact that reports of road deaths in the country are all too common. As the piece quantifies it, 150,000 people on average are killed each year in traffic accidents in India. This bus was carrying more than 40 passengers for a wedding and it fell into a gorge, killing 25. More people are missing. The roads in Uttrakhand can be narrow and steep and exceptionally dangerous so it may be one of the reasons for the mishap. The local governments must prioritise the redevelopment and maintenance of the roads to ensure the safety of all passengers. I pray for the departed passengers and the grieving family members. With reference Taniya Dutta's article Indians demand return of Koh-i-Noor diamond after Queen Elizabeth II's funeral (September 20): this was a comprehensive report with history and background. It adds to the meaningful debate about whether precious objects that colonisers have taken from countries across the world should be returned. In this case, in 1849, India's former king Dileep Singh, as a 10-year-old, signed a treaty with the British. He gave up his sovereignty along with the entire royal treasury, which included the gemstone, to Queen Victoria, who wore the Koh-i-Noor as a brooch. Seeing it on the crown during Queen Elizabeth's funeral has irked some Indians who are calling for it to be returned. I believe the UK should return it to the original owner. India is often known for its friendly nature and peaceable relations within the international arena. Once, 4 students of I.I.T., Mumbai were playing cards till late night and could not study for the test which was scheduled for the next day. In the morning they thought of a plan. They made themselves look dirty with grease and dirt. They then went up to the Dean and said that they had gone out to a wedding last night and on their return the tyre of their car burst and they had to push the car all the way back and that they were in no condition to appear for the test. The Dean said they could have the re-test after 3 days. They thanked him and said they would be ready by that time. On the third day they appeared before the Dean. The Dean said that as this was a _Special Condition Test_, all four were required to sit in separate classrooms for the test. They all agreed as they had prepared well in the last 3 days. Recent rains in Karnataka made miserable in normal routine. The stagnation of water has caused disturbance in the movement of vehicles in the garden city Bengaluru which no one anticipated over seven and half decades. Tribute to Director Rajiv Menon. Today i am going to pen another interesting and versatile film director who not only established his name in advertisement films but also films which is none other than Rajiv Menon.Even though he has directed only a few films,among them Minsara kanavu and Kandukonden kandukonden was a remarkable one. Kajol,Prabhudeva, and Naser played their roles very well in Minsara Kanavu.In his Younger days Rajiv Menon was more fascinated in-film profession ,particularly in cinematography.He studied in the film institute school ,started his-own advt agency making wonderful advt films.He was associated with top class Directors like Maniratnam,Shyam Benegal and Girish karnad.He worked in Maniratnam’s Bombay and later Guru was worth to be mentioned here.His company has got big clients Like Lintas,Hindustan Thompson andOgilvyand Mather. The report on the damage in the country's northern and eastern states was comprehensive. That a 64-year rainfall record was broken in Dharamshala, a beautiful town with the highest cricket pitch in the world, is remarkable. It's not a healthy sign though that the aftermath of the monsoon season has been so deadly. Speedy arrangements from several state governments have helped people in the affected areas where houses have been washed away and families have lost loved ones. Infrastructure, like the roads, has been badly damaged. No one can stop the fury of nature. I pray for respite in the coming days even though the forecast is bleak. On one hand, the country has made great progress when it comes to women's empowerment; on the other, we read or hear stories of women continuing to live in the shadows of men. Sometimes one wonders what the point is of reserving 33 per cent of seats for women in India's village government system, when, in many cases, it is not the women representatives but their husbands who are calling the shots. Kudos to the state government for stepping in to resolve this problem. And while I end up feeling a little exasperated after reading such stories, a part of me genuinely believes that we are making progress, even if it is slow. He is an orthopaedic specialist known for his subject ,relieved many patients from their sufferings. I am happily mentioning here.His clinic is located in Sarakki Signalunder the bridge corner more visible for reaching him.His advice ,prescription way i admire ,being a former pharma man spent three decades in pharma industry meeting doctors in various fields,he is different .Every Professional is known for his methodology and way of doing can not be ignored.His soft caring nature,unnecessary loading of drugs i i applaud.By virtue of my pharma background i love the medical profession .Few friends i referred to him and they are more happy and comfortable with him and treatment.In my family all are happy with his way of treatment and have high respect for his knowledge ,especially i have more.My grand sons being good sports personnel will get his advice periodically.Today i am very happy to tribute this talented , Smart smiling Orthopaedic professional friend I always tell medical profession is a noble profession and many doctors have established their identity and he is one among them.Wishing him and his family a very happy ,healthy and peaceful days to come. Tribute to Cinematographer K.A.Sakthivel 725 Today I remembered another interesting film personality from South Indian Film Industry who made few films and created his own identity as none other than Cinematographer K.A.Sakthivel. He was an assistant to the ace Cinematographer in the initial days and later became independent should be mentioned here.In his Thirteen years film career he has worked with all leading actors Viz,Vikram Prabhu,,Silambarasan,Hansika Motwani,Vishal.RajKiran ,and many others.and directors vizLinguswamy,.VijayChander,and Ezhil Out of his nine films if i am right i have seen few remarkable movies of this cinematographer and one Kannada and Telugu movie also he has done.I have seen few films of this Cinematographer.Those films are Renigunta,Ivan vera mathiri,Sandakozhi2,Velainu Vantha Vellaikaaran,and Hyper kannada movie.Clean framework both indoor as well out door will be visible in his films.Today film industry of all South Indian languages talented technicians are dominated in Direction,Cinematography ,Editing and various other departments shows youngsters are coming to this profession.Today i am happy to tribute this talented Cinematographer will prove his mettle more in the coming days. Tribute to Mysore 724.

Few months back i visited my old place with family where i spent eleven golden years met our old friends.It was a thrilling moment after seeing them more than two and half decades.For them too thrilling and exciting moment.The place was none other than beautiful planned City Mysore.Even though i departed three decades back,the people nature, ,city,was the same made me very happy.Few apartments have come and some new extensions have arrived.I Lived the heart of the city known as VaniVilas Mohalla or Popularly known as V.V.Mohalla.Our old friends received us ,and entertained ,recollecting our old days went to Maharaja palace frequently,the famous Anjaneyar temple,the world famous Brindavan gardens,and popular restaurants.My children studied in a famous school ,visiting daily to Venkateswara temple was our remembrance.Good old friends welcomed us and we spent few hours .The hospitality,love and affection was beyond words.Chakravarthy,Vijaya raghavan,Parthasarathy ,and others still remembering uswas the compliment and our old association with them.After spending one day we left Mysore ,the famous tourist destination reached our Garden city.It was not only a memorable trip for us but also enjoyable after a long drive with scenic locations.Today I am happy to pay tribute to the good old place Mysore that I still remember and cherish. Tribute to My close friend Late Ramasubramanian. 723 Today i am going to Pen another interesting personality whom i have my association for Sixty two years passed away recently ,gave me a big blow is none other than my good old friend Ramasubramanian.Our association started when i was 14years and he was 16 and we were neighbours in Tambaram.Studied in the same school RamakrishnaHigh school which was popular and created many talented student leaders on various field which i am proud to mention here.After our studies he took bank profession ,and i took in Pharma Industry .Younger days was our memorable days playing cricket in near by ground and enjoyed with other friends.Where-ever i go he used to visit and ,same to me .Mysore,Madurai,Dubai and Bangalore spent beautiful days .His thinking and my thinking in films are identical and we used to discuss and see many films during his training at Chennai.All his relatives knew me ,and treated one of their family members ,and still continues to speak of the affinity ,love and affection from them.His brother and sisters love him ,and his departure is a irrecoverable loss to them including me.One day he was telling that one day i will become a writer ,now become true made me happy and his wish was sincere.He is soft in nature,and he and his wife's hospitality i always cherish and enjoy when ever i visit them.Two of his daughters are close to my children and eldest daughter ,remembered my thursday routine.He is my best and only longtime associate for more than Sixty two years was amazing.Before i conclude i pray my Acharyan ,to give his Wife,Children,Son in laws,Grandchildren to give courage and strength to withstand his departure.Above all for me too irrecoverable loss. Good morning Mr Srinivas, Yesterday I saw Kariya 2 it was nice and entertaining with jhunkar Music and good cinematography by the same Srinivas Devamsam if I am right.Your plots are involved with medical treatment I observed which I like.Santhosh Balraj and Mayuri done their role very well. VilliIan Don Gobra Seena played his role very well. You have kept the suspense of the two murders was nice and I expected that. My fav and friendly Sadhu done his role very well as Pappu. He is one of the good personality in the Kannada film Industry. Now I have seen four of your creations and all are different concept and you have delivered.Withmy little knowledge I observed your films and expressed my feelings. Fast action drama with music, songs and good choreography will be visible in your movies.Suresh Heblikar came in short duration as a doctor if I am right played nicely. Great 21 Hours. RecentlyI saw the much talked Kannada film21 hours.The movie was entertaining and made thril with few characters.. All the actors done their role very well. Happy to see our friend Vasanti Sundaram played the role of mother of Ranjit if I am right very nice . She is not only a good versatile writer but also a good actor .She can boldly venture in films especially sandalwood.My compliments to the entire team of 21 hours. and the team leader Director Jaishankar Pandit and Dhananjaya as Srikanth played very well. Letter Published in The National UAE on 17June, Prevent children from falling into wells This is reference to Taniya Dutta’s article Indian boy trapped in well with snakes rescued after 105 hours (June 14): this is simply wonderful news. After what must have been four traumatic days for the boy, his parents and all his his near and dear ones, young Rahul can be home safely. Considering 40 children have died in similar accidents from 2009 to 2019, according to the National Disaster Response Force, Rahul is fortunate to survive four days in such dire conditions, although he is likely to live with the trauma for some time. We should all congratulate the rescue team for completing what was evidently a tricky operation. It is high time that local governments begin implementing safety measures to ensure children don’t fall into wells, particularly in rural areas. Parents should be careful, of course, but governments need to secure all possible accident-prone zones so that the likelihood of such cases occurring in the future is drastically reduced. Tribute to late LakshmiVasudevan 717. Few days back we had a terrible shock to our family.Our beloved niece Lakshmi Passed away.We could not believe the news when we heard from relatives. One of the few personalities whom i admire for her respectful behaviour,knowledge,good deeds to temples and other help to deserving people without making any publicity.I Know her for the past 49 years and for the past two years only she was suffering and lastly she departed and gave a big blow to her Son and daughter.She has attended many discourses of our SriVaishnava Sampradayam and learned many things can not be ignored.Smiling ,Soft spoken well behaved Lakshmi is no more,but her Legacy will continue by her daughter and son .With in a year we all got the shock of three important personalities Mrs and Mr ORS and Sow Lakshmi.My three children are more attached to her and whenever occasions they will be together.Above all my wife has special attachment to her like eldest daughter.Her loss is irrecoverable for our family.Before i conclude she and her late husband Vasudevan are the main instrumental for me to land the golden land Dubai in 1993.Today I am tributing my niece LakshmiVasudevan not only for her philanthropic deeds but also for being one of the outstanding personalities of our family. Letter Published in The National UAE on 3June 22 Remembering Sidhu Moosewala With reference to Taniya Dutta's article Sidhu Moosewala: Indian pop singer-politician killed in 'inter-gang violence' (May 30): I condemn the killing of one of India's most promising pop stars. An investigation is on and I hope the perpetrators are caught and tried. The Punjab state government has rightly beefed up security for about 400-odd individuals based on their profile and importance. But it is only fair to ask why the government reduced the security personnel for a number of these people, including, unfortunately, Moosewala. It is a sad time for India, given that, shortly after Moosewala's killing, fellow singer "KK" – a household name for at least two decades – died of a heart attack not long after performing at a concert. Tribute 715. Today I remembered another interesting film personality from the South Indian Kannada film industry who made a good impact on various roles from negative,to hero and other character roles over four decades if i am right ,is none other than actor Devraj. Started his career with popular late actor Shankar nag and Jayashree in stage plays on their guidance and later entered into films is laudable.I have been watching his films right from my Mysuru days and i liked this Dynamic hero for his cop roles and other hero characters.He acted with all the leading actors of yesteryear and directors is worth to mention here.His physique and personality may be one of the reason he was called as dynamic hero.He has more than 200 films to his credit ,and acted in Kannada,Telugu and Tamil movies is appreciable.I have seen couple of films of this stalwart.Those films are,27Mavalli circle,Anthima theerpu,RavanaRajya,Sangrama,Arjun,Samyktha,Sangliana,AnjathaGandu,Jananayaka,Ramanna Shamanna,Daada,Tarka,Jocky,Indrajith,Deva,CBIShankar,Trinetra,Avesha,Kadana,S.P.Bhargavi,Rajakiya,Golibaar,Lockup death,Looti gang,Mayorprabhakar,Circle Inspector,Inspector Jayasimha, and few i could not recollect.Kannada film industry has got many talented actors and Devraj is one among them .His approach to rolesdialogue delivery is nice.Incidentally he and Avinash have worked in stage plays earlier and are good friends if i am correct.His son Prajwal also an up coming actor like dad. Letter Published in The National UAE on 27May 22 A ,deadly American crisis needs to end With reference to the article Deadliest mass shootings in recent US history (May 25): This was so sad to read. The article, however, was a good round-up of past shootings, of previous casualties in equally horrific incidents, all in the US . This shooting of 19 children and two teachers was just tragic. The real cause of why the shooter did this may never be fully known but such tragedies in a country like the US are shocking because they are so avoidable. This issue of gun control has remained unresolved for way too long. While the liberals and Democrats root for change, something must be done to change the minds of the conservatives and the powerful opposing gun lobby. Joe Biden sounded extremely frustrated that the government can't take action to resolve this burning issue and stop the gun culture and any more shootings. No child should have to go to school fearing for his or her life. My heart goes out to the parents in this case. Once again, it is not only local Americans lives that are at stake. All people are are at risk by the lax gun laws in the US. It's also a risk for the many expatriates, be it the overseas students or the people simply working and living their lives. How much longer must a country have to suffer repeat acts of violence? One can only hope there can be unanimity in the government and Biden administration is able to act on this issue immediately. He was obviously very skilled as a photographer; who can forget his harrowing pictures of the burial grounds and crematoriums after the second Covid-19 wave devastated India last year? Perhaps less apparent were the risks Siddiqui took to bring us the stories we may have otherwise never come across. So we must never forget his immense contribution to journalism.
