It plans to include highlights of work completion and land related issues in its newslettes. BMRCL is doing a wonderful job for the people and a little transparency is needed to boost people’s confidence especially when dealing with lands. Hope they will bridge any communication gap with the people using their newsletter.

Letter Published in KhaleejTimes UAE on 29Sep 19 UAE's unwavering commitment to progress is inspiring Hazzaa Almansoori has made history as the first Emirati and Arab astronaut on the International Space Station. It's been three days since he was launched into space onboard the Suyoz spacecraft, and it is a delight to see and read about his experience in the outer space. On Friday, he attended a video call with the leadership in the UAE and was expected to take questions from the people. It is a dramatic development, to say the least. The UAE has achieved so much in a short span of time. The Emirates is known for the urban infrastructure, and regionally has made a mark in health, tourism, trade, education sectors. Its unwavering commitment to better life, progress, innovation will continue to drive the growth. The latest achievement in space is the beginning of a journey that will take the country to far greater heights. Kudos to the UAE.- K. Ragavan, Bengaluru, India

I write to you in reference to Shireena Al Nowais’s article Tributes paid as long-serving adviser to Sheikh Zayed dies (September 24).
This is a truly touching article on the departure of Abdullah Al Hashemi, the 89-year-old former adviser of Sheikh Zayed, the UAE’s Founding Father.
Mr Al Hashemi helped to make Abu Dhabi the oil-rich city it has become today thanks in large part to his sincere guidance to the former president, who himself departed in 2004.
He was a man with a long-term vision for the country and incredible foresight. His departure is a great loss to the UAE. May his soul rest in peace.

Robert Mugabe, a leader

The death of Zimbawbe’s leader Robert Mugabe, was a great loss to Zimbabwe because of his past political participation for the country (“In Zimbabwe, hospitals battle with Mugabe’s legacy”, Gulf News, September 10). He was a man who lived with his own style and dominated politics in Zimbabwe for decades. His achievements are laudable. He had a bitter life in his earlier days, he struggled but came to the top, which is what is so important. Robert Mugabe commanded respect from his opposition too. May his soul rest in peace.

Letter Published in KhaleejTimes UAE on 15Sep 19 Bolton was a hawk in the Trump administrationThis is in reference to the recent exit of John Bolton from the cabinet of US President Donald Trump. He was the national security advisor, the third one actually, to be shown the door. He was fired after 17 months of his association with the president and was known for his hawkish policymaking. He was tough on Iran and as per many in Washington, he was the brain behind the tough sanctions on the country.  Letter Published in BM on 7Sep 19  Storing drugs at home Unacceptable      K.Ragavan feels that the story ‘Students turn home into a den of drugs’ was sad to read. Of late, students have become addicted to drugs and are storing it in their flats. This is unacceptable. The root cause for this evil addiction comes from drug peddlers, who instigate this habit among students. Students are the main target since they don’t know the difference between what is good and bad for them. They are immature and indulge in this illegal habit because they are not monitored by parents as well. They are staying alone in flats with friends and have mostly come to the city for studying. The government and NGO’s should have periodical awareness programmes against drug abuse, not only in public places but in schools and colleges as well. This will help students not to fall for this. Landlords should also not allow unwanted and suspicious people to enter when students are staying in their flats. This trend is not a healthy one.
