Letter Published in BM on 7Sep 19 Storing drugs at home Unacceptable K.Ragavan feels that the story ‘Students turn home into a den of drugs’ was sad to read. Of late, students have become addicted to drugs and are storing it in their flats. This is unacceptable. The root cause for this evil addiction comes from drug peddlers, who instigate this habit among students. Students are the main target since they don’t know the difference between what is good and bad for them. They are immature and indulge in this illegal habit because they are not monitored by parents as well. They are staying alone in flats with friends and have mostly come to the city for studying. The government and NGO’s should have periodical awareness programmes against drug abuse, not only in public places but in schools and colleges as well. This will help students not to fall for this. Landlords should also not allow unwanted and suspicious people to enter when students are staying in their flats. This trend is not a healthy one.
