Never expected this
Today, personal data preservation for people from popular social sites has become a question mark. This is because of the latest dramatic development from UK’s Cambridge Analytica and Facebook, who breached the confidence of millions of people as they helped the 2016 American elections. Breaching the confidence is unacceptable and now many Facebook members are withdrawing from the site. The CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, gave an apology recently and made a promise for the future, so that this never happens again. I left Facebook 15 months ago and never expected this from the company. After this incident, everyone will think twice before joining any social site, in my opinion. Privacy cannot be compromised.

Letter Published in The National UAE on 1April 18,Benjamin Netanyahu is destroying trust
I refer to your article Israeli police question Netanyahu in telecom corruption case (March 26). Corruption and scandals are common in international politics and, it seems, the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not an exception to this conventional wisdom. However, his outright rejection of the allegations, which have been investigated by the police twice, and reliance on demagoguery to avert the impending crisis are deeply harmful to institutions. What will be the outcome?

Fighting for what is right

Seven years ago, popular Indian social activist Anna Hazare had a big impact on the then Congress-led government, and now he is in the midst of a hunger strike again — this is laudable (“Hunger striker Hazare dismisses government draft”, Gulf News, March 25). The Narendra Modi government, without further delay, should approve his demands for the implementation of a Lokpal bill. This time, he has returned with determination, and how long his hunger strike will go on for, no one can predict. Apart from the bill, this time, he added another clause for farmers and their demands, which is remarkable. With his age, determination and the cause he is fighting for, he should be remembered and the Indian government should not neglect him this time. Will the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government respect this activist’s genuine demands? We will have to wait and see.

Cheating in sport is just not cricket   In reference to your article Ball tampering row: ICC must let umpires dish out yellow and red cards for all situations in cricket matches (March 27), the recent ban on the Australian cricket team's captain Steve Smith for his role in the ball tampering by his teammate Cameron Bancroft during the match against South Africa for one match and his subsequent removal as captain from the Indian Premier League's Rajasthan Royals team represents a dramatic development in the world of cricket.

After decades of occupying a niche space, cricket has gained a wider audience and most players are paid hefty fees nationally and internationally. Mr Smith's action was shameful and injured the image of cricket. He was rightly condemned in the Australian media and by Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. His act is utterly unacceptable. Players who engage in malpractices such as ball tampering and fixing should be banned permanently. That will serve as a lesson for others who might be tempted to engage in cheating and also pave the way for honest cricketers. The rules of cricket should be respected and millions of spectators who love the game should not be deceived. A ban is only right to restore the game's image.

Letter Published in The National UAE on 28 March 18When will Qatar see the error of its ways?
I refer to your editorial Doha continues to walk down the wrong path (March 24): what an interesting read. Your editorial nicely unpacked the ongoing crisis in the White House regarding the many resignations from the Trump administration and the latest dramatic developments in the relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia, which is stronger than ever. Against this backdrop, Qatar is hurtling down a negative path, a fact that understandably galls its neighbours in Bahrain, the UAE, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Doha's conduct is sad. When will Qatar see the light and work towards a compromise?

A fair warninghe recent by-poll results in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh was a turning point for the Samajwadi political party and an alarming signal to the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). The BJP’s overconfidence in their leader’s behaviour, and above all, the many incidents, which happened in the past, have resulted in their defeat. Now, the BJP should be alert and make a new strategy to win the 2019 elections. The high command should control their leaders from talking on the public and ‘hindutva’ should not be highlighted and concentrate on as a promise made before the previous election. Even though the Congress party is not coming into the picture, it is still a warning for the BJP. Will the party’s high command take up this call?

People in the US have suffered enough due to lack of controls on guns. Doesn't matter who takes charge at the White House nothing is done about this menace. The protests by students garnered much attention. The US is often heard talking about global terrorism but is not really doing anything much with regards to its own gun culture. Letter Published in Gulf NewsUAE on 27March 18Battle of the parties
After the recent political developments from other parties, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu has mooted the idea of moving the no confidence motion against Narendra Modi, and this is the latest development from the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh (“‘BJP-RSS misusing religion to exploit sentiments of people’”, Gulf News, March 18). Having associated with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for four long years and just because his state has not been given a special status, he withdrew his support and now wants to moot the no confidence motion against the Modi government. However, his action may be right or wrong my opinion. In politics, everyone is self-centred and not bothered about their commitment to the people. Before promising a special status to Naidu, Modi should have thought of the repercussions. Everyone wants to safeguard his position and no one bothered about the country’s development. This is the real, harsh reality of Indian politics.

I refer to your article France mourns victims of terror attack (March 25): it was saddening to read about the recent terror attack that claimed four lives in France and injured three people. France has witnessed numerous terror attacks in the past and this latest one claimed by ISIL should be universally condemned. Parish priest Philippe Guitart spoke out about this attack and warned against scapegoating or targeting innocent Muslims.
People should learn to co-exist harmoniously in society and help each other. This incident will nonetheless have unsavoury consequences for communal relations. The French government should be more alert to prevent any such incidents in the future. The international communuty must stand with French people against terrorism to safeguard innocent lives.

Today, social media is playing a vital role in the society bringing people closer and exchange day-to-day happenings on a global level. To my knowledge, through social media, people have become more aware of global warming and climate change because of published research. I have been seeing and watching many of my friends and students who often talk about global warming and climate change in my city. This is purely because of the influence of social media and its information. Apart from social media, many individuals are spreading the message of global warming in meetings and going to areas to campaign. Today, the knowledge of climate change and global warming has considerably increased mainly through social media because everyone has access to information. Certainly, in the coming days, more awareness is needed. More awareness will result in change.

I write regarding Samanth Subramanian’s recent reporting on Indian historians accusing their government of manipulating research (India government accused of promoting prejudiced version of country’s past, March 12).

Thanks to historians, India’s past is very well documented and so too are the lives of those Indian leaders who have contributed to the country’s development.

It was disheartening to read about the Uttar Pradesh teacher who was fatally shot, as he clicked pictures (“UP teacher fatally shot as he clicked pictures”, Gulf News, March 10). This tragic incident happened in the Indian capital, New Delhi, as the teacher was in the city to attend a wedding and was staying at his cousin’s house. His cousin took his father’s licenced pistol and was playing with it when he accidently shot the teacher in the abdomen, leading to his death. Parents should not keep guns in cupboards, or in places where they are visible to children. Such incidents should be condemned and there must be justice for the lost life. It has been more than one year since the conflict between the nationalist Buddhist and Muslim groups was aggravated. On March 5, a group set a Muslim’s shop on fire, and this was the cause for a 10-day curfew imposed by the Sri Lankan government. I think it would affect tourists who are already there and the Indian cricket team as well. Communal tension is more visible in recent months and this is not a healthy sign. Above all, even during the curfew period, violence continued and this was sad and painful. Attacking any group, regardless of their religion, is unacceptable. Letter Published in The National UAE on 6 March 18 Medical research deserves regular vocal praise today
I refer to your article Study could help diabetics receive tailored treatment (March 4): the previously accepted view that there were two types of diabetes has been dashed with a recent research study in Sweden. It is the latest major development in the medical world. With more types of diabetes, there are likely to be more treatment options. Today research plays a vital role in medicine and health. I am of the view that this study will significantly help sufferers of this terrible illness.

Tribute to Late Actress Sridevi 496.

Today i am going to pen another interesting film personality from Indian film industry  is none other than LateSridevi.
Millions of people who are the fans of Actress Sridevi was shocked and Unbelieved her departure recently at Dubai. , The passing of this charming, versatile actress, who acted in four different languages,  who made a big impact for decades was not an exaggerated one.
She started as a child artist and rose to fame as a heroine, acting alongside all the leading stars in the film industry. She gave remarkable performances in all of her films but a few memorable ones stand out, such as Sadma, Mr India, Chalbaaz and her wonderful role in the Hindi film English Vinglish.
She was also bestowed with many awards and was liked by everyone in the film industry. Her departure is the greatest loss to the film industry.
No one anticipated her departure so soon and all of Bollywood will be praying for this calm, smiling human
Even though she has departed from us her remarkable movies and  smiling face in front of us.Today i am very happy to tribute this great legend.

Letter Published in Gulf News UAE on 5 Mar ch 18A commendable record
Indian Air Force flying officer Avani Chaturvedi lands a new record (“Indian pilot Avani Chaturvedi lands new record”, Gulf News, February 23). Chaturvedi was the first Indian woman to fly a sortie – the first step to taking charge as a fighter pilot, and this was good news. It shows that women are capable of handling any profession with interest and dedication. Her 30 minutes trip made a good impression on her instructor and this added to her professionalism. On the coming International Women’s Day, Chaturvedi makes a laudable record. I offer my congratulations to her.

Letter Published in THe National UAE on 5 Mar 18  The BJP and Modi look dominant after recent polls
I write in reference to your article Modi’s growing domination of Indian electoral politics (March 4). The poll verdicts from northeastern states recently won by Mr Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party show widespread approval for the Indian Prime Minister. The end of a quarter century of domination by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Tripura is laudable. The fact that the BJP is now ruling 21 out of India’s 29 states is remarkable, especially given the hindutva criticism from opposition parties. Nevertheless, the party’s leadership should concentrate more on the southern states, including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
Certainly Mr Modi’s magic yielded positive results in the northeast. Whether he can do so in Karnataka remains to be seen. Ultimately in a democracy, it is the people’s verdict that matters. This was a good show from the BJP. Kudos to Mr Modi and party President Amit Shah.

Letter Published in  The National UAE on 4 March 18 Sport is a powerful way to make peace and friendship
Your editorial Sport is a force for unity and peace in a troubled region (March 1) was a thoughtful and moving read. There is no doubt that sport is a connecting factor for peace and friendship. One hopes that the recent Basra football match between Saudi Arabia and Iraq will re-energise their ties and lead to a strong bilateral relationship. A good start in the region.

Letter Published in KhaleejTimes UAE on 4Mar 18
When Will the USlearn?  Two killed in US University shooting says a report published in the Khaleej Times on March 3. It once again lays bare the need for gun control laws in the United States. The incident has happened just after a fortnight of Florida shooting in which 17 people were killed by a gunman. Like the attack in Florida, this dangerous gunman was also 19-year-old. Even though the motive behind this attack remains unknown, what needs to be addressed and discussed is the immediate need for strong gun control legislation. Gun culture is entrenched in the US, and buying a lethal weapon is extremely easy, but this should change. The Trump administration should rise to the occasion and abolish this gun culture and save the people. He seems bold, and has taken unconventional steps in trade and foreign policy. He should make a bold move and bring about a change.
