Small Story 28. God never leaves deserving
Ponnuswamy stared at the 12-year-old boy standing in front of him. “What do you want?” he asked, a bit gruffly.
“Sir, I’m not here for a job. I want to study computer science,” Ramu replied, his voice steady. “But I need 50,000 rupees for admission and entrance fees. My dad is a cook, working at marriages for little pay. We don’t have anyone to help.”
Ponnuswamy raised an eyebrow, surprised. “And how do you plan to repay me?”
Ramu’s eyes sparkled with determination. “I’ll find like-minded people to support me, sir. I promise to pay back whatever you can lend me—ten thousand, twenty thousand—once I’m successful. I’ve already discussed it with my dad, and he encouraged me.”
“Your dad knows about this?” Ponnuswamy asked, still skeptical.
“Yes,” Ramu nodded earnestly. “He said you’re a good person, and I should ask you for help. Our priest at the Perumal Kovil spoke highly of you. He said good people don’t turn their backs on those in need.”
Ponnuswamy felt a warmth in his chest. Here was a boy with ambition, coming from a humble background, yet carrying himself with such confidence. He took a moment to think about the boy’s words, recalling his own struggles when he was younger.
“Alright, Ramu,” he finally said, a smile breaking across his face. “I’ll cover your full fees. And if you keep studying hard, I’ll support you through your education.”
Ramu’s face lit up with gratitude. “Thank you, sir! I won’t let you down!”Above all the priest of Perumal kovil temple Desikan was so happy people from ThamiraBharaniriver Tirunelveli have the human values and sympathy for deserving and Ponnuswamy Pillai is one from that place.
