Small Story 540.
Strong Conviction
Keshav visited a newly opened mall in Bengaluru and was surprised to see Amritha there.
“Hey! How are you?” he asked, smiling.
“What a pleasant surprise!” Amritha replied warmly. “I never expected to see my favorite friend here.”
Both were college mates who had completed their MBA and were waiting to start their careers. They shared a strong friendship and often exchanged ideas about marketing. Keshav came from a wealthy family, while Amritha belonged to a middle-class family rooted in strong values and traditions.
After a brief silence, Keshav spoke sincerely.
“Amritha, I want to ask you something honestly. I like you. If you feel the same, will you marry me? I am ready to wait until we are settled in our careers.”
Amritha looked thoughtful. “Keshav, I like you as a good friend. But my family is orthodox and follows traditions strictly. Your lifestyle is different from mine. I’m not sure if our worlds will match.”
Keshav responded firmly, “I respect your traditions. I’ve already spoken to my parents, and they have agreed. I am ready to follow your way of life. We can wait until our careers are settled.”
Amritha smiled gently. “I don’t know how long it will take for us to settle. But if we are destined to marry, it will happen.”
They both agreed and parted with hope in their hearts.
Soon after, Keshav received a job offer in Sydney and moved to Australia. A few months later, Amritha secured a job in New Zealand and relocated. Despite the distance, they stayed in touch through regular calls and messages.
After two years, they decided to meet for a holiday in Dubai. It was a joyful reunion. They explored the city, visited famous attractions, and cherished every moment together. Before returning, they decided that once back home, they would begin preparations for their marriage.
However, tragedy struck unexpectedly. Due to sudden international conflict, a bomb blast damaged the hotel where they were staying. Both were seriously injured.
After several days of treatment, they slowly recovered and were discharged. They returned safely to Bengaluru, where their anxious parents welcomed them with tears of relief.
Their parents, shaken by the incident, advised them to forget everything and move on separately.
But Keshav and Amritha stood firm.
“We will wait until we fully recover and then continue our journey together. We believe in our future,” they said with unwavering determination.
Their parents were speechless, deeply moved by their strong conviction and faith in each other.
True love stands firm, even in the face of adversity.
