This report was a good read (‘Cancer cases on the rise in region’, Gulf News, October 9). The UAE showing an increase in cancer patients is sad. The main attributing factor, I believe, is high-calorie food intake and not late detection. Even though many awareness campaigns are running, people are still not taking it seriously. Earlier, breast cancer was common among women, now many men are reported to have other forms of cancer. One should be careful when it comes to food habits and everyone should follow these campaigns — it may reduce these numbers.
