Letter Published in Khaleejtimes UAE on 4Sep 17, Safety of buildings
This is with regards to the news, 'Mumbai building crash toll increases to 33' (KT, September 1). It was horrifying to read that the incident happened despite the fact that the building was certified as unfit to stay. Appallingly, the building's trust did not deem it necessary to renovate it to make it safe. More people will be staying there for longer periods paying meager rents. We can only pray for the victims and hope that the authority takes action on such buildings and renders a serious look at such incidents.
