Fake news is extremely dangerous as the alarming rise in mob lynchings this year has demonstrated. Many innocent lives have been lost in this brutal manner. The Indian technology minister Ravi Sankar Prasad has taken this issue to WhatsApp executives. Time will tell whether Facebook-owned WhatsApp will comply with the minister’s demands.
