Small Story 593.
A Wedding to Remember
Govind called his friend Vishal.
“Hey, how are you? Yesterday Satish came to invite our family to his daughter’s wedding at a resort. I was wondering about it.”
Vishal replied, “I was wondering too when he invited me. Instead of a traditional mantap, why are people choosing resorts nowadays?”
Govind said, “Even I was thinking the same. My wife Arti said it’s for convenience—better accommodation, beautiful lighting, open spaces, and a grand ambiance. That’s the trend in today’s big weddings. With music and lighting like a Bollywood event, it feels like a celebration on a whole new level.”
Vishal nodded. “Yes, I agree. With the fast digital revolution, even weddings are changing. It’s actually a welcome trend. Anyway, we’ll catch up next Saturday at the reception.”
The following week, Govind and Vishal arrived with their families at the resort for Satish’s daughter’s wedding. The venue looked like a palace, decorated with stunning lights. A live music troupe played melodious old Kannada and Hindi songs, creating a warm and festive atmosphere.
More than 600 guests were seated comfortably in different areas. Snacks were being served, and everyone was enjoying the celebration.
After wishing the couple and having dinner, Govind and Vishal congratulated their friend Satish.
“It was an amazing and wonderful wedding,” they said.
Vishal asked, “What does the bridegroom do?”
Satish replied proudly, “He is in Sydney, running an award-winning event management firm. He has received many accolades.”
As they were leaving, Govind whispered, “What a grand event—with celebrities and everything. Truly a memorable wedding.”
Vishal smiled and nodded. “A little expensive, but definitely worth it.”
With that, both families departed, carrying with them memories of a beautiful and modern celebration.
