Your article, ‘When NRIs missed a heart beat’ (KT/Jan 12), was interesting to read. To date, NRIs were not disturbed and now the possibility of the Indian government imposing a tax is sad.
Indians are working abroad mainly due to commitments and growth. Because many Indians faced discouragement in pursuing education at home, they departed for foreign shores. Now a new tax imposition will hardly be a welcome factor. I feel that first the black money should be brought back before implementing a tax proposal such as this.
