 Double Promotion

Ram came to his office and met his colleague Sitharaman and wished him good morning.

Sitharaman said, “Hey Ram, today our colleague Ramya is giving a party for her recent promotion. It will be at the Udupi restaurant’s party hall at 7 PM. I will come and pick you up at your apartment. The invitation is for all family members too.”

“This promotion is very prestigious for her, becoming a Branch Manager at such a young age,” he added.

Ram whispered, “True. Ramya is a very talented lady with excellent credentials. Her dad is a retired professor and brought her up very well. Since I stay in the same apartment as their family, I know them well.”

Ram himself also had good credentials and an excellent work record, but this promotion had been given to Ramya by the management. It was a multinational software company with branches in many countries.

In the evening, Ram came to the party with his mother. His father had gone to attend a relative’s marriage. It was a good gathering, with around 50 guests including family members.

After everyone settled down, the Regional Director, Seshan, appreciated Ramya’s service and praised her work over the past three years. Ramya, at just 25, looked elegant and pleasant. She was soft-spoken and well-mannered.

After a delicious dinner with sweets, the Regional Director spoke again.

“Thank you all for attending this celebration,” he said. “I also have a surprise announcement. Ram will take charge as the Branch In-Charge of our newly started branch near Silk Institute with a new team selected last week.”

Everyone applauded.

Then Ramya’s father came to speak. He thanked the company for recognizing Ramya’s talent. Then he made another surprise announcement.

“Our family has also selected Ram as our future son-in-law. The marriage will be celebrated here in the Garden City.”

Everyone was delighted. Ram and Ramya made a wonderful pair.

Sitharaman came close to Ram and whispered, “Ram, you are always humble and you appreciate others. Today you got two promotions—one in your career and one in life with a life partner. You truly deserve both.”

Ram smiled and said softly, “It is all my mummy's blessings.”
