Letter Published in The National UAE on 1July 19 Beautiful images speak to a bygone era for Indian trainsI write in reference to your article All aboard the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway in pictures (June 28). The National’s article was very nice to read and featured beautiful pictures of the narrow-gauge runs in Darjeeling, 2,200 metres above sea level. This attractive, famous Indian tourist destination which have been given Unesco World Heritage Site status is laudable. I congratulate The National’s team for bringing up this important place to all its readers. The pictures of the meter gauge steam engine was a particular highlight for me and was very popular in the Indian railway network back in the old days.K Ragavan, Bengaluru
