When I contacted the network authorities, I was told that I had to go for a new number, as the present one was not used by me for six months. I never knew about this rule. I realise how challenging it can be to spend even a day without a cellphone.

I just returned to Bangalore from Denver after a six-month stay. While the visit was pleasant, the joy vanished a day after I landed when I tried to call my friend about my arrival.My mobile phone, which I had not used for six months, stopped functioning.
