Tribute to Seshadri 915 Today, I would like to remember and appreciate a truly remarkable person known for his humble and devoted service to the community. I have known Mr. Seshadri for more than four and a half decades, and his life has been a shining example of selfless dedication. His noble and yeoman service of providing free lunch every single day to more than two hundred people is not only admirable but truly God-blessed. He is settled in Tiruchirappalli (Trichy), in the sacred town of Srirangam. Through his establishment, Athithi Sathkaram, he has created a space where compassion and hospitality flourish. and many also take parcels. The most astonishing aspect is that there is no rate card and no compulsion to pay for the meals. Every day, delicious dishes are served along with two varieties of sweetson auspicious occasions, reflecting generosity and care. When asked about the sponsor behind this great deed, the humble response from his associates is that it is the blessings of Ranganatha flowing through devotees and friends — all without Mr. Seshadri ever asking. I sincerely pray for Mr. Seshadri’s continued service to humanity, good health, and long life. Small Story 523. Miracle Dining – Blessed by Ranganatha Kothai and Ambujam boarded a train to Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) to attend a wedding and visit the temple. After a six-hour journey, they reached the city and checked into their accommodation. Taking some rest, they later proceeded to the wedding hall, blessed the bride—whom they knew very well—and enjoyed a delicious lunch while spending quality time with friends. By evening, they returned to their room. After 5 p.m., they visited the famous Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. As frequent visitors, they were familiar with the priests and were fortunate to have a peaceful and fulfilling darshan. Back at the hotel, their neighbor mentioned, “Madam, if you would like home-style food, you must visit Athithi Satkaram Kaingaryam place near the temple. You will be amazed.” The next morning, curious and eager, they visited the place. To their surprise, nearly 100 people were seated and enjoying a wholesome meal served with two varieties of sweets and several delicious dishes. Volunteers warmly served everyone with smiles. There was no fixed tariff; people could contribute whatever they wished, and there was absolutely no compulsion. Kothai and Ambujam were astonished. This noble kaingaryam (selfless service) had been carried out for many year The person behind the show never asked anyone for money and never encouraged publicity. Many visitors even carried food parcels home. When the two friends inquired about the sponsor behind this generous service, the volunteers simply replied, “God alone.” was only an instrument blessed by Lord Ranganatha to serve humanity. Deeply moved, Kothai and Ambujam were touched to tears. Small Story 522. A Good Encounter with an RTO Stalwart Basavaraj had recently been transferred from Mysore to Bengaluru, and he had just one year of service left before retirement. One Sunday morning, he decided to walk from his house to his favorite old restaurant for breakfast. As he relished a crispy masala dosa, he suddenly heard someone call his name. To his surprise, it was his old friend Ram. Basavaraj knew Ram well—a sincere journalist who always took a keen interest in the problems of the common man. Ram worked selflessly and never expected anything in return for his service to society. “Hey Ram! How are you? How is your wife? And your daughter Aparna?” Basavaraj asked warmly. “All are fine,” Ram replied with a smile. “Yesterday, our friend Manjunath told me that you have been transferred to the Bengaluru RTO office. I’m glad to hear that.” After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Ram grew serious. “In fact, I was thinking of writing about an issue that affects senior citizens. Whenever they walk on platforms or roads in areas like JP Nagar, they are disturbed by the harsh and confusing horn sounds of vehicles. A dedicated professional, Vasanthy worked as an Editor-in-Chief at a publication company and had completed her Master’s degree in Communication Journalism. Despite her busy schedule, she had quietly achieved something remarkable—she had written 100 short stories, each designed to be read in just two minutes. Small Story 510 Hassan: A Journey Without Expectations Bhimaiah reached the hotel in Hassan recommended by his friend Somaiah. Though he was from Bengaluru, he had never visited Hassan—the so-called “poor man’s Ooty”—and wanted to explore the town and its surroundings. His wife, a college lecturer, could not accompany him as she was busy with examinations. After enjoying a good breakfast at the hotel, Bhimaiah came out to the reception. To his surprise, he saw his old college friend Menaka sitting there. Both were pleasantly shocked to see each other. “Hey Bhimaiah, how are you?” Menaka exclaimed. “What a pleasant surprise!” Bhimaiah replied. Menaka said she had come for coffee and was waiting for her husband. Her husband, Murali, had been transferred to Hassan the previous year, and they were staying near the park. A few minutes later, Murali joined them, greeted Bhimaiah warmly, and after a short chat, the couple invited him for dinner that evening. Before leaving, Bhimaiah thanked Menaka and Murali for their warm hospitality and unforgettable companionship. He then returned to Bengaluru. Listening to his experiences, Bhimaiah’s wife smiled and said, “You are always lucky.
