Small Story 507.

Small Story 507. Unexpected Turning Point in a Career Subbu never expected a call from his old friend Ramu. He was pleasantly surprised—and even happier—when he heard the news. Ramu’s Son Somu, had joined the IT giant Google and would soon be moving to the United States. Somu was just 25, and Subbu had quietly dreamed of proposing his daughter, Shubha, as a bride for him. But with this sudden rise in Somu’s status, Subbu wondered whether such a proposal would still be welcome. Lost in thought, Subbu was interrupted by Ramu’s cheerful voice. “Subbu, tomorrow evening at 5 p.m., please come to our house with your wife and Shubha for tea.” Subbu felt hopeful. Perhaps tomorrow would be the right moment to open the topic. The next evening, Subbu, his wife, and Shubha arrived at Ramu’s house. They were warmly welcomed by Ramu and his wife. After tea and delicious snacks, Ramu began the conversation. “Subbu, my son Somu is leaving for the U.S. next week. He asked me to convey some good news. Shubha will be joining his team at Google.” Subbu was thrilled. Before he could respond, Ramu continued with a smile. “There’s more. Somu will be marrying his classmate, Vrindha, who is also joining the same team. The wedding will be celebrated next year in Bengaluru.” For a moment, Subbu felt mixed emotions. He was happy for Shubha’s career opportunity, even though his unspoken dream of a family alliance had quietly faded. He realized that life had answered his unasked question in its own way. Accepting it as God’s will, Subbu smiled. Shubha would be part of Somu’s team, not his life—and that, too, was a blessing. K.Ragavan 31-1-26
