Small Story 482: Lucky at Forum Mall
Sophia was waiting for her friend Anitha at Forum Mall. Both were classmates and now worked in the same pharmaceutical company as Administrative Managers. Anitha had recently been transferred from Mumbai and had settled near Sophia’s apartment as her neighbor.
Anitha arrived five minutes later and greeted Sophia warmly. Sophia returned the greeting with a smile. They went inside a café, ordered snacks and tea, and sat down.
“Do you like Bengaluru?” Sophia asked.
Anitha nodded. “Yes, I like the lifestyle here. The people are friendly and God-fearing.”
“That’s true,” Sophia agreed. “I’ve been staying here for the past three years, and my kids like it too.”
“Yes, you’re right,” Anitha said. “My son Abhinav likes it very much, even though we’ve completed only one month here.”
After finishing their snacks, they walked around the mall for an hour, admiring its style. Anitha whispered, “If my dad and mummy come here, they will love it. It looks like a Dubai-style mall.”
“Yes,” Sophia smiled. “Your dad lived in Dubai for more than two decades and is a famous journalist.”
After spending another hour, they returned to Sophia’s car and drove to their apartments in Jayanagar. While driving, Sophia received a call from her husband David.
“Hey, I’ve got good news,” David said. “I’ve been promoted to Regional Manager from next month.”
“Congratulations, dear!” Sophia exclaimed excitedly. “I’m at Forum Mall with Anitha.”
Anitha congratulated David warmly on his promotion. After the call ended, Sophia felt very happy. David had received a good position in his company, a leading event management firm based in Australia.
As they got down near their apartments, Sophia said, “Tomorrow, come for tea with your parents since they’ll be arriving tonight. I’ll prepare eggless cake and your parents’ favorite snacks.”
They both went to their respective apartments. Sophia felt content and joyful. After Anitha’s arrival, many positive changes had happened in her life. Anitha Iyer was not only a good friend—but a lucky one too.
