Small Story 456 An Unexpectedly Good Proposal Anita was waiting for her son outside the school gate. Exactly at 12:30, Nitish came out and saw his mother standing there. He waved excitedly and ran to hug her. Nitish was studying in 7th standard, and since his aunt Madhu was arriving from Dubai, he wanted to go to the airport with his mother to receive her. Madhu, Anita’s sister, was a Senior Correspondent in a leading news channel based in Dubai, and Nitish was her favourite. Anita and Nitish reached the airport in their car, and soon the flight arrived. Within thirty minutes, Madhu came out with her baggage. She saw her sister and nephew waiting and walked quickly towards them, hugging them warmly. While driving back home, Anita brought up the topic of Madhu’s wedding proposal. She told Madhu that she had found a good groom for her in Dubai through a friend. Madhu smiled and said, “I’m not thinking about marriage right now. Let me first establish my name properly in my channel.” But then she added, “Still, the proposal I received in a sealed cover… I never opened it. I opened it only now, before coming—and to my surprise, the groom is Goutam, the CEO of your channel!” Anita was stunned. She had never expected such a revelation. If the proposal worked out, she would be the happiest, because Goutam was known to be one of the most honest CEOs in the media world.
