I was watching on television the violence and looting of public property by rioters in London. A friend was to go there on an official trip, but decided to cancel the trip. The prime reason for such violence seems to be the growing gap between rich and poor. “Nature has provided us with abundance of fruits and vegetables. Why are people left to die hungry in Somalia and other such countries?” asked the friend. “Plain human greed,” was all that I could reply.
