A CHOICE CRITIQUE? Letter Published in Khaleej Times,UAE
25 August 2011

This is with reference to the news story, ‘Bill will open for another corruption’ (KT/ Aug 23) which was interesting to read.

Arundati Roy has got every right to express her views on the present Anna Hazare’s scenario but criticising the rights of the common man was unacceptable.
My point is leave Anna’s fasting; the UPA Government has failed to fulfill the promises made to the common man during elections.

On moral grounds Singh should step down after seeing the entire country voicing their feelings against corruption.

People are tired of seeing a rise in corruption. None of the political parties are interested in the common man but are only interested in amassing personal wealth.
There is no consciousness and will to serve the people of the nation.

Since more then four decades this bill was not taken by the Parliament. I am confident the government was not bothered till the entire nation’s voices came to gather under Anna’s lead.

As a common man of this country what I expect from the administration is a peaceful day-to-day life without any hazards and humiliation. I feel Arundathi’s comments were unwarranted.
