Letter Published in Gulf news UAE on 10Aug 15,Parliament isn’t a playground
The Gulf News story about 25 Congress party lawmakers being suspended for five days, was good to read (‘Speaker suspends Congress lawmakers for five days’, Gulf News, August 4). More than a fortnight passed, with a logjam in the Indian Parliament and the opposition parties misbehaving in the House, resulting in the suspension of 25 members. Despite mixed reactions and the ‘Black Day’ comment by Congress party president Sonia Gandhi, I feel the decision taken by the Speaker was good and would help in conducting the House calmly in the future. Politicians should not think the House is a playground for them. I hope in the coming days, the functioning of the Parliament will go smoothly.
