Eat right Letter Published In GUlf news On13.Sep.08.uAE.
Off late, I have been reading a lot of news related to obesity among children. It has become a common and worldwide problem. The contributing factors are mainly bad food habits and a lack of exercise. Parental care is mandatory for children who might have a tendency to overeat or to eat unhealthy food. Many parents tend to overlook this important factor, by giving their children food that has a high calorific value.

UnjustifiedLetter Published inGulfnews o 10.Sep.08.uae.
Paid parking timings during Ramadan have been extended to 12 midnight and this came as very sad news to Sharjah residents (”Parking fines waived after machines act up”, Gulf News, September 5). I do not think it is justified for paid parking to exist until 10pm on regular days and for two hours longer in Ramadan. I request the authorities to revert the timings to the old arrangement.

Letter Published in TheNational,Abudhabi.on 9.Sep.08.UAE.Taxis ignore Ramadan and RTA
Recently I had a bitter experience in Dubai while trying to hail a taxi. I was waiting at a bus stop in Deira for more than an hour before I could get a taxi willing to take me to Sharjah. I would have taken the bus, but the queue was far too long. To my surprise, although three taxis stopped, none of the drivers would take me to my destination. I told one driver that he should show more willingness during the holy month of Ramadan, but he ignored me. Despite many warnings by the Roads and Transport Authority to these drivers, none of them has bothered to listen or change their behaviour. The authorities must look into this matter.

Letter Published in Khaleejtimes on 9.Sep.08.uae Cabbies and RTA Warning
9 September 2008
Recently I had a bitter experience in Dubai, waiting for taxi at Deira bus stop for more than one hour to go to Sharjah.

Since there was a lengthy queue for the bus, I opted for taxi.

To my dismay and surprise three taxies were standing there, but none of the drivers was willing to go. I requested one driver that at least in the holy month of Ramadan, they should carry the passengers. In spite of the RTA’s warnings none of the drivers bothered to carry is a pity. And I am not the only one to go through such experience. There might
be hundreds of my ilk
 in the city.

Hence, I sincerely request the authorities concerned to look into the matter. Specially during Ramadan, the authorities should enhance their vigil as most of the working folks are fasting and suffer extra physical exhaustion.

Hello, care Article published in Gulf today on 30.August.08.uae.

for others

I recently had a funny experience while travelling by bus from Sharjah to Bur Dubai. Every now and then, I could hear varied and pleasing ring tones from different mobile phones of passengers. I was enjoying the rhythm and melody.

Suddenly, the bus stopped because of a heavy traffic jam. It remained at the same spot for more than 10 minutes. That day I had got up early and hence was feeling a little drowsy. Hence I fell asleep. After a few minutes, the bus jam cleared and the vehicle moved towards Hyatt regency.

Suddenly, I heard a sound as if something was falling over me. I woke up only to realise that it was my co-passenger’s mobile sound. While I had enjoyed the other mobile tones, I could not tolerate this noise. I casually looked at my co-passenger, but he was happily chatting with his friend.

The tone was so disturbing, but I had no way out except to listen to it continuously until I reached the destination.

Everyone has the liberty to choose a ring tone of his/her choice, but they should understand that others are also listening.
